Since Backlash, JBL has kept John Cena squarely in his sights. Now, at One Night Stand, he’ll have a chance to fight Cena under the rules of his choosing: A First Blood Match.

Before being fired from his position as Raw’s General Manager, William Regal set a tag team match between JBL & Randy Orton and WWE Champion Triple H & John Cena. When JBL & Orton won the match, they earned the right to challenge their opponents to singles competitions at One Night Stand — a right that JBL quickly exercised.

This match is part of a longer-running rivalry between the two wrestlers, which began at Backlash. There, both men were involved in a Fatal Four Way Elimination Match for the WWE Championship. JBL, believing that he should have had the match against Randy Orton on his own, was furious to have been defeated by John Cena, and taken out of the running for the title. Since then, JBL has put aside his desire for gold, and instead focused on making John Cena’s life a living hell.

Though Cena defeated JBL at Judgment Day, it was only after the self-made millionaire had his way with the Chain Gang Soldier, pounding on him with the type of smashmouth wrestling we’ve come to expect from John “Bradshaw” Layfield. JBL worked John Cena over for most of the match, but was felled by an FU. The Longhorn Loudmouth admitted that he was pinned, but wondered who really won the match, since Cena was recovering in the trainer’s room, and he was out giving interviews.

Now, at One Night Stand, JBL will have the opportunity, and the incentive, to literally draw blood from his opponent. John Cena has stood up to the toughest competitors WWE has to offer, but how will he manage in a match designed for brutality, against the self-proclaimed “wrestling god,” JBL?

To find out, tune into One Night Stand, the one night where WWE goes extreme!

The longstanding tug-of-war between Triple H and Randy Orton over the WWE Championship continues to rage, with both men preparing to dig in their heels and battle at One Night Stand in a Last Man Standing Match.

It’s a format in which Orton has excelled. It was a cold night in October at No Mercy when Mr. McMahon awarded the title to the Legend Killer after John Cena suffered a torn pectoral injury. That evening, Triple H defeated Orton to capture the title, but Mr. McMahon would have none of it. He pitted The Game in a Title Match against Umaga, which Triple H barely survived. The Chairman then arranged a Last Man Standing Title Match against Orton, in which Triple H was unable to overcome his exhaustion and was forced to relinquish the gold.

Since then, the animosity between these two has only etched itself deeper. During WrestleMania XXIV, the then-Champion Orton eked out a narrow victory in a Triple Threat Match against The Game and John Cena. The Legend Killer’s cunning, however, could not save him last month at Backlash when Triple H effectively ended the “Age of Orton,” defeating JBL, Cena and Orton in a Fatal Four Way Elimination Match. Two weeks before One Night Stand, JBL & Orton defeated Cena & Triple H in a Tag Team Match to win the right to determine the stipulations to their respective matches at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event.

At One Night Stand, Orton will utilize his cunning and stamina in an attempt to recapture that which he covets most, while Triple H channels his power to fend off the attacks of a relentless foe. As their tug-of-war continues, who will remain the Last Man Standing

Though he’s overcome an amazing amount of adversity in his career, Jeff Hardy has had a mountain of an obstacle placed in front of him: Umaga, who Hardy will be facing in a Falls Count Anywhere Match at One Night Stand.

In one of his last acts in power as Raw General Manager, William Regal responded to a hellacious war between the two in which Jeff Hardy’s high-risk maneuvers came up against Umaga’s brutality. Despite the aggressiveness of both Superstars, however, the match ended without a winner, as both men were counted out of the ring.

The two Superstars have clashed since fall of last year, when Hardy faced off against Umaga for the Intercontinental Championship. Though the Samoan Bulldozer had been used to running roughshod over any type of competition, Hardy was able to stand his ground, utilizing the acrobatic moves that have made him a fan-favorite, defeating the savage to become a four-time Intercontinental Champion. More recently, in his return to Raw, Hardy obtained a pinfall victory over Umaga, proving that even after a two-month absence, he still has what it takes to derail the Samoan Bulldozer.

Though they’ve battled back and forth for months, their match at One Night Stand will end only with a decisive win for one of these Superstars, as a pin outside the ring will be as valid as one inside. Both men have unorthodox styles and are sure to carry their fight all over the San Diego Sports Arena, from the ring, to the entrance ramp, the audience, and even the parking lot.

With complete freedom of where to take the carnage, what insane risks will we see Hardy take with his body? And will even that be enough to stop Umaga at his most brutal?
